چکیده

Abstract Aim Minimally invasive inguinal hernia repair is thought to be associated with fewer complications. To address this hypothesis, we compared short- and long-term complications in patients undergoing elective open (Lichtenstein), laparoscopic (TAPP) robot-assisted (rTAPP). Material & Methods Patients either, Lichtenstein, TAPP or rTAPP at our institution between January 1st 2017 December 30th 2019 were retrospectively identified. Short (haematoma, seroma, surgical-site infections) (chronic pain, recurrence) recorded groups. Results 636 included the study. 370 treated 125 141 rTAPP. There was a significant overweight of men all groups (p < 0,001). Among group, overall rate reduced (open: 10.0%; laparoscopic: 8.8%; 5.7%) while presence chronic pain slightly more prevalent (Lichtenstein: 1.6%; TAPP: rTAPP: 2.1%). The recurrence lower following 3.8%; 2.4%; 1.4%). Same day discharged likely technique 88.9%; 78.4%; 78.7%). Nevertheless, these results not statistically (p>0.05). Conclusions present case series demonstrates comparable short minimally repair. trend towards rate, though significant, implies that surgery might complication rate. However, larger prospective study design longer follow-up needed test hypothesis.

Laparoscopic vs. open incisional hernia repair: a randomized clinical trial.

IMPORTANCE Incisional hernia is the most frequent surgical complication after laparotomy. Up to 30% of all patients undergoing laparotomy develop an incisional hernia. OBJECTIVE To compare laparoscopic vs open ventral incisional hernia repair with regard to postoperative pain and nausea, operative results, perioperative and postoperative complications, hospital admission, and recurrence rate....

Comparison of Laparoscopic vs Open Modified Shouldice Technique in Inguinal Hernia Repair

Inguinal hernia repair has been a common procedure performed by general surgeons. Recently, a newly developed approach has been introduced using the pre-peritoneal laparoscopic repair. The laparoscopic approach allows patients to recover faster, with less pain, however, a disadvantage is the higher cost. We conducted a retrospective study of inguinal hernia repairs performed by one surgeon at t...

Laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair.

The safest and most effective inguinal hernia repair (laparoscopic versus open mesh) is being debated. As the authors point out, the former accounts for the minority of hernia repairs performed in the United States and around the world. The reasons for this are a demonstration in the literature of increased operative times, increased costs, and a longer learning curve. But the laparoscopic appr...
